"Capacity and frequency of local public transport – buses first of all but ferries as well – are critical problems all around the Amalfi-coast. Overcrowded buses are absolutely dangerous, not simply uncomfortable or unpleasant. Bus rides with suitcases are horror. This way travellers are forced to use private transport instead of public transport, which is not the goal nowadays, and endangers the unique environment and safety of people – both inhabitants and visitors. Interruption of bus lines in Amalfi is illogical and causes extra stress for passangers plus extra pollution in the town. Amalfi central bus station should be terminated.
Public transport between Napoli airport and the Amalfi-coast should be reformed: Alibus to Garibaldi+train to Sorrento/Salerno+bus or ferry to your destination takes half a day, which is critical on the way home first of all: you need to start much earlier (sometimes even one day earlier) to be sure to get to the airport on time instead of spending more time (and money) on the coast.
Campania Artecard – 3 days version first of all – is a good and useful thing, but it needs to be clarified understandably where it can be used and where not. Amalfi-coast local public transport or high speed trains on short distances (e. g. from Napoli to Salerno) shouldn't be exceptions. Travelling with electronic Artecard is problematic, since the gates in metro or train stations rarely recognize and accept them, and you need to hunt for personnel for help. Personnel of transportation and museums should be educated on Artecard: many of those we met had never heard about it at all.
And the most important: during summertime beer should be served much colder in most of the bars and restaurants! :)
